Reflection August 14, 2012

Kawena Hirayama August 14, 2012 Period Two August 14, 2012 Reflection Today was an amazing day. Having fresh paʻiʻai first thing in the morning made the rest of my day so much better. Also, the way that we are learning is very effective. It’s almost like rote memorization, or monkey see, monkey do. It stuck pretty well in my mind; I feel like a learned a lot in a short amount of time. I also got to review a lot of things. I love the story of our older brother, Hāloanakalaukapalili. It reminds me of the connection we have to the land. I was also reminded of how ono he tastes and how he provides for us. I got to review the parts of the kalo and ways to introduce myself as well. I can feel the knowledge burning deeper into my mind. This class made me excited for the rest of the year; I feel like I will learn a lot. It also gives me the impression that this knowledge will stay with me as easily as English. I love the Hawaiian culture and language; they are so beautiful. These are my thoughts on the day.
